Goth/Gothic - For our purposes it refers to the gothic lifestyle. Used interchangeably. The Scene - Usually used to refer to the social aspects of goth. "The scene has changed over the years." Elder Goth - A person who is 35+ and has been in the scene for a long time. Baby Bat - A gothic newbie. Goth Rock - Coined in 1967 by by music critic John Stickney. Batcaver - A term for an old-school goth. FYI, the Batcave was a super popular club. Emo - A person who is overly sensitive and full of angst. Music genre is gloomy/angsty with pop or mainstream sounds and confessional lyrics. Gothopotamus - A very fat goth person. Deadly Vu - If you hear anyone use this phrase, they obviously watched the Beetlejuice cartoon series. It's used in the same way as "cool", "awesome", "wicked", or "rad". Tourist - Someone who dresses up in a “goth-costume” and hangs out in the scene, but isn’t actually a goth themselves. Weekender - Someone who only dresses Goth on the weekends for parties on events, but has a normal lifestyle throughout the week. This is often forced upon people who work in a corporate environment or similar. Goth Code - This was a popular thing to put in signatures in the 90s. It's a profile code. Here's the website LINK for version 2.5.
